🕯️How to Get the Most Out of Your Scents
Hello lovely readers! 💖
If you’re anything like me, you love filling your home with beautiful, comforting scents and wax melts are one of the easiest (and prettiest!) ways to do just that. Whether you’re new to wax melts or a seasoned scent lover, today I’m sharing some simple tips to help you get the most out of your melts. From using them properly to storing them with care.
✨ Tip 1: Use the Right Burner
Not all burners are created equal! For soy wax melts, I recommend using a ceramic or glass burner with a tealight. Make sure the dish isn’t too deep. This helps the wax melt evenly and release its full fragrance.
I found the electric burners do not get my wax hot enough to release its scent. If you are only getting a subtle scent this could be why. Also, to bare in my is the size of the room you are trying to scent. The bigger the room the less scent you will smell, whereas a smaller room like a bathroom or toilet will be that much stronger.
I always light my burner with a relaxing scent 1 hour prior to having a bath or shower.
🕯️ Bonus tip: When using a tealight burner, choose unscented tealights to avoid mixing fragrances.
🧼 Tip 2: Keep Your Burner Clean
After your wax has lost its scent, let it cool and harden. Then gently remove it. You can pop the dish in the freezer for a few minutes to make this easier. Wipe the dish clean before adding a new melt to avoid scent mixing or residue build up.
🌡️ Tip 3: Don’t Overheat
If you’re using an 8 hour tealight, avoid leaving it on for hours at a time. Overheating can reduce the scent throw and shorten the life of your wax. A few hours at a time is perfect for enjoying the fragrance without overdoing it. Up to a maximum of 4 hour tealights are perfect. They do not over heat the wax, prolonging the scent oil a little longer.
📦 Tip 4: Store Your Wax Melts Properly
To keep your melts fresh and fragrant:
- Store them in a cool, dark and dry place
- Keep them away from direct sunlight and heat
- Use airtight containers or resealable bags if possible
This helps preserve the scent and prevents the wax from softening or losing its shape.
🕯️ Tip 5: Rotate Your Scents
Just like you rotate your wardrobe with the seasons, try rotating your wax melt scents too! Use fresh, floral scents in spring, fruity blends in summer, and warm, spicy fragrances in autumn and winter. It keeps things exciting and helps you enjoy each scent fully.
